Canon Optura 50 recording with SD card instead of mini DV tapes?

Tuesday Apr 14, 2009

I am considering using my Sandisk Ultra II 2GB SD card to record video with in my Canon Optura 50 camcorder- I would try to get the video into the computer and make back-ups to DVD – saving me from always buying tapes -except for maybe longer sessions.

Is this a good idea – would the video/sound quality suffer?
would it be harder or easier to get the video into the computer?
what do I need to know?

precede2005:

when you can records on SD card it's easy to download or transfer to your computer using company's software or Microsoft window movie maker…if you have a DVD-R or DVD-RW drive than only you can create a DVD if your have a CD-R/CD-RW drive you can create your video for 80 minutes only.Make sure about your drive first.
